Long before modern trucks, digital logistics, and international transport corridors, the roots of today’s Marani Trans reach back to the early years of the 20th century.
Around 1900, in the Berlin district of Neubritz, Max Poranske, the great-grandfather of the current owner of Marani Trans, was already active in the transport and supply business. His family company specialized in the trade and delivery of crystal ice, a service that was essential at the time.
In an era before refrigerators became commonplace, households and businesses relied on ice-filled cooling boxes to preserve perishable goods. Companies like “Kristalleishandel Poranske” ensured that ice was delivered reliably and punctually, regardless of weather or conditions.
At first, Max Poranske carried out deliveries by horse-drawn carts. As the business grew, he invested in trucks with a special body, a forward-looking decision for its time. Continued success allowed the company to build its own premises with garages, establishing itself as a trusted supplier throughout Berlin.
After Max Poranske fell during World War I, the business was taken over by his son Willi Poranske, and his daughter-in-law Hedwig. Despite the hardships of the era, the family’s sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment to their customers remained unchanged.

Following World War II, the company adapted to new circumstances. In addition to ice deliveries, it began handling general transport assignments. The fleet included several “Tempo Hanseat” and “Hansa Lloyd” trucks. During the summer months, additional drivers were employed, as demand remained consistently high.
One particularly telling detail captures the true spirit of the company:
Auguste Poranske, the widow of Max Poranske, already well over eighty years old, continued to accompany the trucks as a passenger, personally caring for long-standing customers across Berlin’s districts.
From 1953, the business was managed by the founder’s daughter-in-law, Hedwig Poranske until the company was eventually sold in 1958 after Willi Poranske passed away.
Yet the tradition did not disappear.
Today, that tradition lives on under the name Marani Trans.
The same values: reliability, responsibility, perseverance, and respect for customers, that shaped the family business more than a century ago continue to define the company today.
Marani Trans is not just a transport company.
It is a legacy. Generations of experience. A history in motion!
